Happy Father’s Day! None of the links have anything to do with Fathers but I thought I would give it a mention :-) I’ve got some WordPress, some twitter, and some fun videos.

Using WordPress Custom Fields to Display NextGen Gallery Slideshows Conditionally
When I was setting up up the NextGen Gallery plugin to manage my portfolio I decided I also wanted to display a slideshow of the images on certain pages. Since NextGen has a Slideshow feature built in (sort of but I’ll get to that) I assumed that this would be a piece of cake (and why is something that is easy called a piece of cake anyway?). But it wasn’t as simple as I though it would be. Fortunately, I found some awesome resources to help me out.
Let’s step back for a second though. NextGen DOES have a slideshow but not ALL of the functionality is built in.
How to Link to Your Facebook Fan Page from Your Profile Page
Please note: This information will soon be outdated by changes that Facebook will be making to boxes and the boxes tab. Please read my new article Upcoming Facebook Changes to Boxes and the Box Tab that Will Impact Your Custom Fan Pages.
My friend Rick Morgan and apparently many searchers finding this site have asked how you can link to your Facebook Fan page from your Facebook profile. And until Rick asked me about this it didn’t even occur to me to create such a link but, of course, it’s an excellent idea.
Well, the short answer is that Facebook DOES NOT provide a direct way of doing this. This does not mean, however, that it can’t be done. It will require the use of a particular application and a teeny bit of html.
NextGen Gallery Plugin for a WordPress Portfolio
Last winter I wrote about photoblogging plugins for WordPress. Recently I’ve been using NextGen Gallery with clients and have become a lot more familiar with the plugin.
My friend Manshu also brought it to my attention that the screenshots on my portfolio were outdated. For example, we had installed Thesis on his site but my screenshot still showed his old theme. I decided to redesign the layout of the portfolio using NextGen Gallery. This gave the portfolio a new look and gave me more experience with the plugin.
(Anti) Social-Lists 6/14/09
As with many of my posts, this one has been done in advance. While this is being published and you are starting to stop by and read it, I am still in the midst of the slumber party. I might need extra recovery time ;-)
This week we have WordPress, IE6 hacks, a lot of humor, and more … Where’s my coffee?
