(Anti) Social-Lists 1/25/09

I think I’ve got some good links for you this week as well as a couple of fun ones. Topics include freelancing, WordPress, Twitter, Feedburner, Inauguration Photos, Cats, and Calendars. Enjoy!

  • The Monster List of Freelancing Job Sites – Are you looking for some freelancing work or just want to earn some extra cash? Well, Freelance Switch has compiled a huge list of freelancing job sites. Have fun and go earn some extra money.
  • WordPress TV – If you’ve watched all of the WordPress tutorial videos I’ve linked to recently, you can start watching WordPress TV. An online “channel” devoted to all things WordPress.
  • Game Industry Tweet – Well, you all know that I love video games so here is the list of Video Game Industry Professionals on Twitter. Their stats don’t show that they are great about following back but it might be a great way to get some extra info about your favorite game or company.
  • Make the Move From Feedburner to Google – Well, as you probably know Google has owned Feedburner for awhile now. And Google is requiring that you move your feeds by the end of February. (You will be assimilated). ProBlogDesign has an awesome step by step guide that makes the process super simple.
  • Inauguration Photos – Flickr has a set of Inaguration Photos through the years. There are photos of Kennedy, Taft, Wilson and many many more.
  • Cats In Sinks – Earlier this week I walked into the bathroom and discovered Capt. Courageous curled up in the sink as pictured below. This then made me remember a website totally devoted to photos of cats in sinks. Apparently it’s something cats like to do.

  • Old Calendars Never Really Go Out of Date – I was surprised to discover that there are only 14 combinations in the Western Calendar, so if you are a packrat, eventually that old calendar will be current again. I don’t have any old ones as my daughter and I usually cut up the photos/pictures for art projects. This then made me remember a particular Simpsons episode. Who knew Homer was so wise? ;-)

      • “hahaha…shazaam” :-)

And CC is adorable as usual.

Logging in to transfer my RSS feed is reminding me how much I hate Feedburner.

      • Hang onto old calendars? That might be a bit too much for me as I tend to have written all over them.

And your cat is soooo gorgeous!

        Jannie Funster´s last blog post – Sunday May 10th 7:30 p.m.

      • Thanks for the feedburner link. I found it useful.

        That cat is precious!

      • Hey, KW.

I’ve seen a couple of these around this week. Good choices and lots of valuable stuff.

I love the calendar reminder. Believe it or not I’ve got some old appointment books from the mid 80s. I’m going to pull them out and see if any match for 2009. What a blast from the past!

        Cheers!

        George

      • Thank you for the Feedburner/Google heads up and link. Of course, I had no idea this was going on and probably wouldn’t find out until after February 28th!

      • Nice list. I just migrated my feed this week.

And WordPress.tv is pretty cool… Automattic is quickly becoming my favorite company. They’re always up to something, ever improving our experience with their products. :-)

      • Thanks for the Inauguration photos — very interesting. I wish our B-team cat, Rupert the Stupert, *would* get into a sink! Instead, he tries to jump up on things, pulling stuff onto the floor. If he does make it, he knocks stuff off to make himself room to lie down and stretch out!
I haven’t updated my FeedBurner RSS feeds yet, though I know I will have to do so soon. So much has gone wrong with FeedBurner that I’m more than a little afraid of Murphy’s Law taking over!

      • @Jim – I guess she’s adorable but I wish she wouldn’t sleep in the sink.

I think a lot of us love/hate feedburner.

@Jannie – I don’t think I could hold onto old calendars for long either. We tend to write on ours a lot too.

@Vered – A couple of days after moving my feeds the numbers seem to be back to normal. The cate is also a little troublemaker.

@George – I wonder if you have any that match up? And you’re the first person who has said he has old ones ;-)

@Carla – I knew there was going to be a transition but only found out it was coming up soon through Twitter.

@Shirley – Glad you like WordPress.tv My feed migration seemed to go well and my numbers are getting back to normal.

@Mike – Well, CC knocks things down too. She likes to get into my daughter’s closet and throw everything on the floor that she can. There’s also a hanging set of cubbies in there and somehow she learned to get onto the top of it.

The article about transferring the feeds is a great guide and makes it quite easy. The hardest part was editing the correct code on my site – not in transferring the feed.

      • I did the change to Google too for Feedburner. It take a day or two for them to get your feed numbers correct. At least for me and others I’ve talked to. Don’t be alarmed if your number drop for a couple of days.

      • @Gennaro – Thanks! Mine dropped really low and now seem to be back to normal.
