May is flying by – it really is true that the older you get the faster time goes by. This week I have some information about WordPress, photos, plastic, a lake monster, cleaning and more. Enjoy!

  • 9 Ways to Make Your WordPress Blog Smart – A list of tips and techniques to make you blog behave differently depending on who is visiting. Examples include displaying a different welcome message to different visitors, showing where people went after visiting the post, and displaying related posts based on search queries.
  • Custom Taxonomies in WordPress 2.8 – Well, obviously, WordPress 2.8 is not out yet but information about it is starting to be released. This article is about creating custom taxonomies or groups. Groupings can be created that are specific to your blog and used in a variety of ways. I’m starting to think about ways I could use this feature.
  • – Public Computer Errors A flickr photo group of computer errors seen on public computers and things like ATM’s. Some of them are funny and others are quite embarrassing for the institutions that the computers belong to.
  • – Awkward Family Photos A blog devoted to family and group portraits that are really quite awful and funny. My favorite is the twin guys wearing chaps.
  • Challenge:Show Us Your Plastic Trash – Fake Plastic Fish challenges you to keep track of all the plastic trash you generate in a week and take photos of it. This is not designed to judge but to help raise awareness of plastic cunsumption. (found via Siel)
  • Memphre: The Sea Serpent of Lake Memphremagog – When I was in Vermont last weekend I went to a restaurant on the shore of Lake Memphremagog. While not as famous as Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, this lake also has a legendary sea serpent named Memphre. This is a glacial lake which is very deep and murky, which has contributed to the legend.
  • How to Clean Stuff – Tips on how to clean a variety of hard to clean items. I don’t know if all of the tips are green but the site donates money to the Clean Water Fund for submitted cleaning tips.
