(Anti) Social-Lists 7/12/09
I’m surprised I have anything to post this week. I’ve been so busy I haven’t been doing anything but working. It was nice having a three day weekend last week but I really paid for it this week. All I did was try to get caught up.
Fortunately, the weather has still been really nice. This is the longest I’ve ever gone into the summer without needing air conditioning. It’s nice to have the windows open and not have that expense.
- The Web Designer Declaration of Independence – This would have been more appropriate for last weeks list but I didn’t come across it until this week. It is written like the US Declaration of Independence and lists design grievances, such as MySpace and Internet Explorer.
- Retention During the Recession: 20 Ways to Get and Keep More Clients – Ways to get and keep clients even when you think the economy is so bad no one is going to want to hire you.
- Facebook Fan Boxes – Creative Blog Solutions has a short write-up about the new facebok fan boxes that you can add to the sidebar of your website.
- How Can I Help You Today – Ari Herzog is willing to answer any social media questions that are asked in the comments. It’s a good deal so if you have any questions head on over and ask.
- Another Plugin of Mine: YANewsflash – Stratos has written a new plugin called YANewsflash. This will put a news item at the top of your blog. After installing the plugin all you have to is input the text that you want and how long the message should be displayed.

Neither one of these videos is new but both of them make me smile. The first is of Matt Harding dancing in various locations around the world. This is the 3rd video has has done and in this one people dance with him. The second is Gogol Bordello singing Start Wearing Purple in the pouring rain at the Glastonbury Festival from two years ago.

i can go a long time w/o the air conditioner, but i have used the fan and the windows are open. been getting a nice cool breeze in the morning and early evening.
it’s nice to take a break from work and the computer, especially when the weather is great. winter will be here soon enough keeping us inside.

Hi Valerie – It really has been a nice summer. Lately when I walk into a
store with air conditioning I feel cold because I’m not used to it.
I am really trying to take weekends off – it’s hard to stop sometimes when the office is always in front of your face ;-)

Kim thanks for including my plugin on the list. I really appreciate it! As for Matt i really loved the video when i first saw it and the soundtrack is awesome as well. Nice list even though you thought you didn’t have anything ;)

Heh – a good summer for me would be one where I had to use the ac every day :) I wish! We’ve had a few nights this summer that have been so hot it’s been a bit difficult to sleep, but mostly I always hope for warmer weather.
I’ve always loved the “Where the hell is Matt”-videos! I wonder if he’s still doing videos, or if he’s gone back to being just another lazy guy. :)

Hi Adrenalynn – I’m one of those odd people who prefer winter to summer. Of course, I live somewhere where winter is pretty mild. If I lived where you do, I might feel differently.
Matt recently did a funny talk where he was being ironic and showing how the videos were fake – he keeps being accused of that by idiots so in his talk he shows how much it would have cost for it to be a hoax.

The Matt video is awesome. My favorite was Gurgaon, India, its very close to Delhi, my hometown. :-)
