Elephants avoid costly mountaineering

  1. Elephants in Captivity - SUBMIT COMMENTS TO USDA - PLEASE COMMENT
    The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is seeking public comments on the space and living conditions for captive elephants. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to Federal rulemaking for these important creatures. Read the article and go to the Federal rulemaking portal at http://www.regulations.gov Type in the docket number or search for the word “elephants” and you will find the comment site. It only takes a couple of minutes. Comments must be submitted on or before Oct. 10, 2006. I am hoping that everyone will submit formal comments. The link above will advise you on the website to submit comments. USDA is looking for comments on particular issues, but this is also a time to provide them with your additional ideas, opinions, and facts, and make them aware of the needs of elephants. It is my opinion that there are no zoos of any kind that can properly house elephants. They need miles and miles in which to roam for the sake of their physical and mental health.
