Hawthorn youngsters deliver care package to zoo’s new baby elephant

“Students presented a basket of goodies to the zoo’s newborn elephant, Meliha. The basket included bottles of ketchup, bottles of bubbles, jello boxes, and baby rattles; items requested by the zoo to stimulate the baby with different tastes and experiences. These gifts will help the staff recreate situations and behaviors in the wild for Meliha as she grows.” - Salem Times-Commoner
