today, 8.20.08, zoo officials announced Jenny will remain at the Dallas Zoo and a female companion is being sought, while the construction of a (too small) 4-acre exhibit is being expedited ~ to be completed in 18 mos! Why expose a traumatized 32 year old elephant to these types of stressors when she can retire in tranquility to The Elephant Sanctuary?
The zoo’s budget has been slashed 3 consecutive years in a row and elephants are very costly to maintain. how is this a fiscally responsible decision?
Contact Mayor Tom Leppert tom.leppert@dallascityhall.com
