The domestication of elephants has been accepted as a way to save the
endangered Indian elephants from extinction. But behind the pomp and
pageantry of the domesticated elephants, there is also a tale of misery.

If you want to know more about the elephant lore of India and the plight of
domesticated elephants, read the touching story of:

“Poomulli and the temple elephant” (available at Amazon) from the
“Ecological tales from India” series.
