Baby Doll Stroller

Yesterday we bought Alex a baby doll stroller - everytime we go to the park and another kid brings one all she wants to do is push it around. She LOVES it - I have never seen her pay attention to a toy for so long. As soon as I showed it to her at the store she started pushing it around and we put baby doll in it. We had to take the tag off and bring it to the register in order to pay for it. She pushed it all over the stores until she was so tired she could barely see straight. I had to convince her to get in her own stroller and rest. I folded the baby stroller up and Alex insisted on holding it. She played with it all evening after her nap and it was the first thing she did when she got up this morning. She put her big teddy bear in it and has been giving him juice and dressing him up in a hat and sunglasses. It’s raining today but when the weather is better I’m going to let her bring it to the park. I think it’s going to be the best $10 we’ve ever spent on Alex :-)

Here is a picture of what it looks like - Alex’s is pink not purple.

All About Baby

Alex is a little weirded out by her new baby doll right now. Marc showed her how the doll’s eyes open and close and now Alex seems hesitant to pick up the doll. She keeps pointing to it and saying eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes. Strange … I hope this doesn’t keep her from liking the doll as much.

Anyway I found a picture of it so here it is.

More about Valentine’s Day

We had a really nice Valentine’s Day. We did chores and grocery shopping in the morning and Marc got me some beautiful pink roses. Around noon Alma came over to watch Alex and brought her a new sticker book and a little Valentine Teddy bear. Marc and I went out to lunch (it was really good), went to the library, got coffee and sat out at Rittenhouse Square and did a little shopping.

Alex is really into babies right now. She is really sweet to her baby doll and her stuffed animals - she gives them juice and food, carries them around and rocks them, and likes to put clothes on them etc… Marc and I have been wanting to get her a doll and found one we really liked yesterday. It came with a little carry bed, teddy bear and pillow. When we brought it home Alex was so excited and kept saying in a sing-song kind of voice - baby, baby, baby, baby while rocking back and forth. She played with it a lot and I think she is really going to enjoy it. I’m going to try and find a picture of it later.

A little bit after Marc and I came home Lisa and Jon stopped by for a little while. Alex got a card and some more stickers. At first Alex acted really shy around them but I think that is because she hadn’t seen Jon since Christmas. Anyway, we had a really great day (and the weather was really mild).

These are a few of my favorite things …

No, it isn’t raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens but two of Alex’s favorite things (currently) are stuffed animals and books. She loves her stuffed animals (Baby Doll is still numero uno) and gets really excited when she sees a picture of a teddy bear. She also LOVES books and spends a lot of her time looking at them, carrying them around, and climbing in my lap (or Marcs’) so I will read to her. She rarely gets tired of it and has even sat in my lap for 45 minutes at one time. Her favorites are her Babybug magazines, which, unfortunately, are mostly in pieces now and small board books. I’m glad she likes books so much … although it almost an obsession - maybe it is because she has always sees me reading …

Stuffed Kitty

When Alma came over on Saturday she brought a stuffed kitty for Alex - Alex loves this toy (but not as much as baby doll) and has been carrying it all over the house. I think she likes it because it is so soft and because it is a kitty like out cat, Carly, that Alex is never able to catch. It’s funny how kids like certain toys so much more that other ones. It is a Douglas cuddle toy - here is a picture of it.

Linus’ Security Blanket

This past week Alexandra has picked an object to be her comfort/security object. It is “My First Baby” by Gund that my Mom bought for her when she was two months old. It’s funny because she never really paid that much attention it until recently and seemed to prefer other stuffed animals like MooCow. When I go to get her in the morning she is holding it and when she takes a nap and goes to bed at night she liked to have it and uses it as a pillow. So far she doesn’t need it all the time but she seems to slowly be getting more attached to it. I hope it doesn’t reach the point where we have to take it with us everywhere that we go. I think for now it just makes her feel better in bed when I’m not with her. I also think that she likes it because it has a little blanket attached to it.

Short Hair and a visit from Grandma B.

On Saturday February 15th I went to get my haircut - it is now really short (Alex didn’t seem to mind). After I left Alma came over to watch Alex so Marc could come meet me and we could go out to eat. Marc said that when Alma got there that Alex started laughing and lunged for her. It must have been so cute and probably made Alma really happy. Plus Grandma brought a cloth lunchbox that says “My First Lunchbox” and it has a squeaky cookie, an apple that rattles and a sandwich that has pieces held together with velcro - Alex loved it and has been playing with it all the time.

3 months old!!!

Alexandra is three months old today - I can’t believe how fast time is going by and how quickly she is growing. She has become a lot more verbal this past week - one funny thing that she does is “sing”. When the music plays on her Sparkling Symphony Stacker she goes ooh, ooh, ooh until the music is done playing. It is like she is singing along with the toy.

What a smart baby.

Alexandra has a toy called the Sparkling Symphony Stacker by Fisher Price. My Mom got it for her a month ago - at that time Alex didn’t really pay any attention to it. But in the last couple of weeks she has taken more of an interest in everything and she likes this toy - she likes when I push the button and make the music play and the the lights light up. She also likes the smiley-face on the top button. Yesterday morning I was talking to Mom on the phone and Marc was playing with Alex - he was holding her over the toy and she reached out and pushed the button!!! She did this four times! I couldn’t believe it. And, of course, we now think she is very advanced because this is a toy for 6 month olds. She seemed so proud of herself for figuring it out. I don’t know if babies have a hand preference yet but I was excited that she used her left hand.

She is also really starting to like her board books. After I change her she usually lays on the floor (on a big confy blanket) and plays by herself for a little while. I stood a board book up next to her and she smiled at it, made her funny little noises and had fun knocking it over.
