Spain wins Euro 2008
Since I have been spending too much time watching football (or soccer to us Americans) and playing with video capture software, I haven’t written a post for today. I have always had a passing interest in football and would half pay attention to the World Cup but for some reason I have become a big fan since watching Euro 2008. And it’s so exciting - I decided to root for Spain at the beginning of the tournament basically because I’ve been to the country and I know a little bit of Spanish - and Spain ended up winning!!! I now plan on following Real Madrid (I think I now have a huge crush on Iker Casillas) and perhaps Arsenal in the Premiere League. And, of course, I will be getting ready for World Cup 2010.
I have been testing two social community sites for football fans; OleOle and Footbo. I haven’t spent enough time with them yet to do a review but I plan to soon.
So, since I am a recent football fan I will post some videos instead.
This one is of the champions ceremony after the match. Every time I watch it I am incredibly moved when Iker Casillas, the goalkeeper and team captain, lifts up the trophy.
The second one is a compilation of Iker Casillas’ best saves for Real Madrid.

Well, like I’ve said I’m a football newbie. I was leaning toward Arsenal because I like players like Fabregas, but I’ve also had a sort of intuitive feeling about Aston Villa. I also wanted to find a team who wasn’t in the top four. Last weekend I decided to watch as many games as possible and see if I “felt” anything about any of the teams. And I really liked Aston Villa. I like the name, the kits, they way they play and that they aren’t in the top four but aren’t at the bottom either. And I know the hat trick wasn’t a normal event.
I guess I’d rather be a villain than a gunner.
