Vermont County Fair Fun
A couple of days ago we went to a county fair in Lyndonville, Vermont. And, really, who doesn’t love the fair. There is interesting people to watch, really crappy food to eat, nauseating rides, lots of animals and the excitement of watching cars smash into each other.
When I was a kid we went to the fair every summer and I loved it. I had not, however, been to one in a long time and really wasn’t sure if it would be something I would enjoy. All indications point to not at all.
But I had a blast! The weather was perfect and there was so much to see and do.
People Watching
Rides
Adorable Animals
Food!
Demolition Derby
One of the great things about the fair is how colorful everything is – makes for some great photos.
And this fair was the major entertainment so far. Otherwise I’ve been doing absolutely nothing, which has been perfect.

Fried Oreos! When you’ve said that, you’ve said it all. :)
I remember the 4H fairs that used to be around my neighborhood – plenty of fun!

Hi Barbara – lol – I did not try them. I loved going to the fair when I was a kid and getting in trouble at them when I was a teenager but I hadn’t been to one in ages.

Awesome!
I love stuff going to stuff like this and was so jealous when you went to the fair ;-)
I’m so glad you had fun. Unexpected good times are always the best. Looks like Alex enjoyed herself too.
Those baby goats are the most adorable thing ever.
Great pictures!

Hi Jim – The baby goats were so cute and funny. We watched them for a long time.
Alex did have fun – when we first got there though she was in a mood and complaining about everything. Once we got some food in her she was fine ;-)
The fair makes for really colorful photos.

Hi Kim – I love it! Every year Pete and I go to the Minnesota State Fair, which is enormous. We always say we like to go because after all the people watching, we come home feeling “above average.” LOL!
There’s something way better, though, about the entire thing on a smaller scale. I loved the county fair when I was a kid. Your daughter will remember this forever.
BTW, last year’s food hit at the MN State Fair was chocolate-covered bacon. Ewwww. We just had to try it. :)

Hi Betsy – Sounds like you are as charitable as I am. I always leave the fair feeling super thin and beautiful ;-) LOL
They seem to do everything with bacon these days.

Hi Vered – My brother is always saying that everything tastes good fried.
I think he’s right – I don’t care for mushrooms but I do like them fried :-)

Did you try a fried Oreo? And what is YOUR favorite fair food?

Hi Rick – I did not try a fried oreo. I really like the nauseating rides so I didn’t eat very much – not like the kid did. I’m partial to the fries with vinegar on them.

No long lines, ah, the joy of living in a smaller city.

Hi Jeremy – I wouldn’t even call it a city – it’s not even a small town – lol

Wonderful photos!! I love county fairs.

Hi – Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos :-)

I liked the photos as well, however I’m not afraid to admit that the rides scare the heck out of me…..those things get set up in like 5 minutes! Maybe we’re just spoiled with Disneyland so close, but geez

Hi Mark – lol – I didn’t have that thought on The Dreamcatcher but I did on a different ride … what if the car just goes flying off … I did lose my hat when I was on the Dreamcatcher and if you have loose shoes you have to take them off. It was very exhilarating!

Who wouldn’t like to be in such a wonderful fair… I am glad and a bit envious too after watching the pics.
These pics made me realized that I’ve been missing fun of my life… now I’ll surely attend some fairs… from the day’s break.
