In additional to the beta WordPress also released the full version of the new Twenty Twelve theme. Twenty Twelve is compatible with the current version of WordPress, 3.4.2, so you can start using it now. I wrote about the features of Twenty Twelve in my previous article.
The release of WordPress 3.4 is not imminent and will probably be ready this summer but I thought it would be a good time to discuss some of the planned features in the new version.
Many of the changes are related to themes, theme options, and searching for themes as well as many bug fixes. Otherwise, I don’t see anything too exciting but there are some useful features.
WordPress 3.1 is scheduled for release on December 15th. Of course, that date is subject to change but it will be coming out soon-ish.
Here are some of the features we have to look forward to in the next version of WordPress.
Recently I wrote about some of the upcoming features in WordPress 2.9
So, since I know how to party over a holiday weekend, I decided to install the WordPress 2.9 beta version on my test server and take a look at some of these new features.
I was going to take a ton of screenshots and write another article, but I decided it would be more fun to make a video instead.
So enjoy my voice and listening to me trying to talk fast so I could fit everything in within 5 minutes.
WordPress 2.9 is due to be released on … soon-ish (probably in December) and I thought it would be fun to review some of the upcoming new features.
My biggest hope with this release is that there will not be as many security updates are there were with 2.8. I always say wait until the .1 release to upgrade but I did not foresee .5 with the 2.8 series. Yikes!
