11 Photoblogging Plugins for WordPress

On Monday I listed 7 WordPress themes for photoblogs. Now that the photoblog is set up and the theme selected I now have 11 WordPress plugins that can enhance or add extra features to the photoblog.
- Altpwa – If you use Picasa web albums, this plugin will allow you to embed the albums into your WordPress site. Does anyone use Picasa web albums? I use Picasa to organize my photos but use flickr for online images storage.
- AWSOM – AWSOM is an easy to manage image gallery for your WordPress blog. It features “drop and go” functionality, ability to sort in a variety of ways, and custom image resizing and display.
- ExZO – ExZo works with .jpg images and will show the EXIF data for the image. This plugin will also zoom the image.
- FAlbum – This plugin displays your flickr photos and photosets on your blog.
- Fotobook – If you store your photo albums on Facebook, you can use this plugin to pull them into WordPress.
- Gallery Widget – Gallery Widget can pull random or latest image from media library to the sidebar or within the template.
- Lazyest Gallery – This plugin contains a lot of features – so many that it may be the only plugin that you need. Features include, comments per image, automatic thumbnail and slide creation, jquery slideshow, random image widgets, exif data and much more.
- mBox – This plugin makes it easy to include Slideshow galleries in WordPress posts.
- NextGen Gallery – This may be the most well known gallery plugin for WordPress
- PhotoQ – PhotoQ doesn’t work as a gallery or enhance images in any way but increases the photoblog functionality of WordPress. It adds batch image upload, automated posting of photo posts, exif metadata, watermarking, and much more.
- Shutter Reloaded – This plugin is an image viewer that works much like Lightbox but has a much smaller footprint and does not require any external libraries.

I found “NextGen Gallery” very easy to use and good looking gallery and functions such as adding watermark, description…, still I am looking for a similar plugin which can automatically generate separate pages for each picture, I would appreciate if someone guide me.

Hi – I’ll let you know if I find something that generates individual pages.

I’ve been noticing more people using Picasa Web Albums. I’m not sure. Personally, there really isn’t anything in Picasa that would draw me away from Flickr. But that’s just me.
NextGen Gallery looks cool.

Hi – I agree. I like the Picasa program but I am not that interested
in the Web Albums. I guess enough people use them though –
otherwise plugins wouldn’t be needed.

I use NextGen Gallery. Happy with it overall. Functions well. The thumbnails are a bit small on the photo pages, but I gues that’s okay for bandwidth. It makes it quite easy to use photos within posts, which is helpful since I use so many.

Hi Gennaro – Are the thumbnails a predefined size?

I just played with it and it is possible to make them larger. And that’s one of the many reasons I visit this blog, lol :)

Hi Gennaro – Great! I was a little surprised that such a popular
plugin for photos didn’t have that feature.

AWSOM sounds like a good plugin for me to use to display products on my blog, but for some reason, I am not getting it to work. I’m fine up until I get the code section.
I wonder what I am missing…

Hi Carla,
Did you place the / before and after the name of the folder you created for the images? Did you make the image folder inside of uploads?
AWSOM does have a support forum – maybe search in there or ask
a question …

Here I have been wondering what plugins are out there for photos and here is a good list for me to checkout.
It is a good thing because I have one client which wants photo slide shows and photo albums on his blog. This list saves me much time, cool.
