Finally Moved! New Apartment Photos
We are finally all moved and settled in!
The move went much better than anticipate and the movers I hired, Mambo Movers, were excellent.
It took about a full week to get all settled and organized after the move but part of that was because the main bathroom was still being renovated. I was annoyed and stressed out about that because it should have been done before my move but now that I see how new and sparkly it is, I feel that it was worth it.
I leased the apartment three months before the move in date. During that time I doubted my decision, was happy about my decision, doubted by decision, rinse and repeat. But, now that we are here, I know I made right choice. The rent is higher but the apartment and the block is so much nicer than where I was living for the last decade. We really couldn’t be happier about our new home.
Photos
I originally planned to take photos at the old place and then do a comparison between the two apartments but once everything was moved out it looked so run down and forlorn that I just couldn’t bear to do it. I just wanted to clean it, turn in the keys and be done.
My new office. This is looking into it through the kitchen. I didn’t have an office in my last place – it was a corner of the living room. Ignore the cat on the table – she’s a total brat and I’ve been having trouble keeping her off of places she doesn’t belong such as the table, my desk and the top of the fridge.
Close-up of one corner of the office.
Living room – I’m a bit of a furniture minimalist but not a book one. This is one of 4 bookcases.
Part of small backyard. This yard can be used by anyone in the building (4 apartments) but no one else seems to use it. We are excited about this because we didn’t have any private outdoor space at our other place.
So, we are happy about the change in our living arrangements. Hopefully, however, things will settle down and get back to being normal (and a lot less strenuous work). I’ve never packed and unpacked so much on my own before and I hope I don’t have to do it again for a long time.
The little moth in the top photo landed on my daughter’s hand and hung out when the movers were packing up the truck. I decided to view it as a positive sign of transformation and change.

Beautiful spot, Kim! I love the hardwood floors. And it’s great that your office has so much light. The whole place has a cozy look to it. Congrats on your new place. Bet you’re glad to get the move over with.

Hi Kim,
Old beautiful house with charm, style, high to the ceiling and large bright windows. Really cozy and soft flat that you will feel comfortable in. Good luck in your new apartment. (I’m jealous)
